It might sound hard to sew sequins, but it can be really easy!

Kristin Baird shared how to upcycle existing items by adding sequins yourself!
Underlay Technique
SUPPLIES
- Sweatshirt
- Sequin Fabric
- Shape
- Fabric Pen/Marker/Pencil/Chalk
- Basic Sewing Tools
INSTRUCTIONS
- Trace shape onto the front side of the sweatshirt.
- Pin a piece of sequin fabric to the inside of the sweatshirt and sew together following the pattern.
- Once sewn in place, cut away the sweatshirt on the inside of the stitch line to reveal the sequin fabric underneath.
Patches Technique
SUPPLIES
- Basic Dress/Shirt
- Sequin Flower Patches
- Thread/Needle
- Scissors
- Fabric Pen/Marker/Pencil/Chalk
- Grid for Marking
INSTRUCTIONS
- Simply stitch the flower sequin patches into place where you want them. You can scatter them or cluster them together. You can also use a grid to help get a pattern centered.
Floating Technique
SUPPLIES
- Basic Dress/Shirt/Sweatshirt
- Loose Sequins
- Shapes
- Tulle
- Fabric Pen/Marker/Pencil/Chalk
- Basic Sewing Tools: Scissors, Pins, Sewing Machine, Thread, etc.
- Embroidery Foot for the Sewing Machine
INSTRUCTIONS
- Using a pattern, pin tulle in place on top of clothing, creating a pocket at the top.
- Sew around the shape to contain the sequins.
- Spread the sequins out throughout the tulle pocket and then sew down to keep sequins from all falling to the bottom.
