Studio 5 Love List: October

Painted Gourds

Jeni Gochnour

Jeni Gochnour creates whimsical and charming gourds for all holidays. These are the ones that she turns into ghosts, jack o’lanterns, and Halloween characters. Jenni reveals, “I found a gourd years ago and have felt like it was a match made in heaven. (A gourd is a name given to a hollow, dried shell of fruit, generally, used more for utilitarian uses and once dried will last forever.) I don’t usually open-up my gourds so you can still hear the seeds inside them. I love that. Each gourd has its own personality and I love discovering who they are and painting it out for all to see. Every one of my pieces is unique and different because there is not one gourd that is exactly like another. You can find more at www.jenibee.com/ or on her blog, jenigochnour.blogspot.com/. She also has an etsy site: jenibee.etsy.com

Vintage Headpieces

Jana Crump

Jana Crump loves all things vintage and that’s how she started created unique headpieces. These are perfect for Halloween for the person who doesn’t want to dress up too much, but just throw on a headpiece that will be the talk of the party, or more memorable than the trick or treat candy they are handing out.

“I started my business in February when I was trying to find a cocktail hat. To my surprise I couldn’t find anyone that sold them, so I sat down and just started putting different materials together and came up with my own design. I thought that maybe there was someone else looking just like I did and that I should sell them. And then it began. I opened my shop on ETSY. I searched for different inspirations from old photos and look through fashion magazines to see what the trends are. All my items are vintage inspired with a modern twist.
