Thanksgiving Day Shortcuts

Studio 5 Gourmet Today Contributor Amy Richardson shares her three favorite tricks to save time.

Ore-Ida Steam and Mash
Mashed Potatoes

These are real potatoes that can be microwaved. You just put the bag in the microwave which heats them up. Then drop them in a bowl and add butter and milk for great mashed potatoes. These aren’t flakes or instant or any kind of dehydrated potatoes. They are actual potatoes that simply save you the time of peeling and boiling.

Jiffy Pie Crust mix
Betty Crocker Pie Crust Mix

When I can’t find the time to make a crust from scratch, I always use the Jiffy mix. Whenever I do, I always get rave reviews and people are always asking for the recipe. I never know if I should confess and tell them that it’s just a Jiffy box. The fact that the mix is under a dollar is an added bonus. Betty Crocker also has a great mix.

Pillsbury Hot Roll Mix
Lion House Hot Roll Mix

If you don’t want to go to the trouble of making rolls from scratch, these are both great alternatives. It will save you time and guests will all love them.
