The Perfect Pant Glossary

There’s the long and lean girl, the curvy gal, the hour-glass, the apple
shaped and pear shaped woman. So how does a girl find a great fitting pair
of pants in this crazy world of endless options? Studio 5 Style File contributor
ShaLyse Walker is here to help you find that magically perfect fitting pair of
pants. Here’s her perfect pant glossary:

Although any body type can pull off this jean when paired with the right top,
you should really rock this jean if your best asset is your legs. If you’ve
constantly been complimented on your long, skinny legs, accentuate them
with a long, lean pair of jeans that hugs them all the way down. Balance this
silhouette with a long, flowy top, sweater or tunic for the best proportions. If
you’re feeling really daring, tuck them into knee-high boots and rock those
skinny jeans, girl!

J Brand Skinny Jean: $168, Cake Boutique

The bootcut Jean is a universal fit for all body types. Every woman should
have a great fitting bootcut jean in her closet. This fit balances out the hips
with the “bootcut” bottom and elongates the leg. It looks great when worn
with flats or heels. Just make sure they’re hemmed correctly with the bottom
of the jean gently grazing the floor. Wear this jean with a slimmer fitting top
or tucked in blouse to avoid the any volume in your blouse competing with
the volume at the bottom of your jean.

AG “The Angel” Corduroy Bootcut pant, $172, Nordstrom

The trouser jean fits relaxed through the hip and thigh with a thick hem and
slightly flared leg. It often features diagonal pockets and no rivets. It’s a
great look for the office because the relaxed silhouette doesn’t restrict
movement when sitting or standing. It’s also great for the curvy girl because
it merely skims the body without drowning it. The thick hem and tailoring of
the pant also creates a polished look in place of a five-pocket denim look.
Pair this look with a menswear inspired top like a button-down or vest and
you’re set to go!

“Editor” trouser, $69.90, Express

While many body types can pull off the wide leg jean, curvy girls do well with
this because the hour glass shape of the wide leg draws attention away from
the thighs. However, if you’re thin and would like to appear taller, this is also
a good solution because the bell of the jean elongates the leg. Always wear a
high heeled shoe or wedge with this look for maximum lengthening.

Mother Wide Leg Jean, $139.90, Nordstrom
