Vase Restyling

Utilize your seemingly endless collection of generic, glass vases!

Michelle Virtue with Campus Floral shares five easy ways to restyle a vase.

The next time you want to add a splash of color to your home, some visual
interest with texture OR even an artistic conversation piece, consider utilizing
your seemingly endless collection of generic vases. With some simple
techniques and a variety of items you can find around the house, you can
restyle any vase for holidays, wedding centerpieces, gift-giving or

1. Latex Balloons

Use an 11″ or larger latex balloon. Keep in mind that the vase or glass votive
that you use for this project must be relatively small. This works great for
single blossoms and allows you to create an endless selection of matte
colored containers.

2. Lace, fabric or ribbon

Cotton eyelet is our favorite fabric to use right now. It works beautifully tea
dyed for a more vintage look OR you can even paint over it for a more
modern/colorful version. Modge Podge or Diamond Glaze are our adhesives
of choice.

3. Vintage paper products

Aged newsprint, flashcards, letters, postcards, or book pages are perfect for
this project.

4. Hit the Hardware Store!

Copper piping, painted PVC, air filters, screening. . . the possibilities are
ENDLESS! When I’m looking for texture, I always start my search at the home
improvement stores.

5. Paint Dip Glass or Ceramic

Almost any paint will work for this product—we used a thinned Valspar color
sample.
