You won’t be able to stop eating this cracker toffee!
With a list that involves butter, brown sugar, and chocolate – you know this is going to be a popular Christmas treat. Layer it all on the secret ingredient: saltine crackers! The combination turns into a sweet and salty toffee you’ll be munching on all season long.
Beverly Constantine shares how easily this holiday treat comes together. Spread your toffee mixture on top of a layer of saltine crackers and finish off with chocolate. As a self-described chocoholic, Beverly doesn’t skimp on chocolate chips. Go for the Ghirardelli, and use the whole bag!

Sweet & Salty Cracker Toffee
- 1 1/2 Tubes of Saltine crackers
- 2 sticks butter, salted
- 3/4 C. brown sugar
- 12oz bag Chocolate chips
Cover ungreased cookie sheet with edges (jelly roll pan) with heavy duty foil. Line crackers in a single layer to cover entire pan.
In small sauce pan, over medium heat bring butter and brown sugar to a boil. Allow to boil about 1 minute. Remove from heat then pour over crackers spreading evenly over entire pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 mins. Remove from oven, place on cooling rack. Sprinkle chocolate chips over entire pan. Let rest 5-7 minutes to allow chocolate to melt. Spread like frosting with a spatula. Freeze for 30 minutes then break into pieces. Store in refrigerator till ready to serve.
