We are wrapping up our Halloween edition of 5 days, 5 ways! All week we
have been wowed by 5 different creative crafters, sharing new ways to
decorate pumpkins.
Blogger Melissa Quigley with Hollyhocks & Honeybees shares how to dress up
pumpkins with style and sophistication!
I love decorating with pumpkins beginning at the end of Sept. all the way to
Thanksgiving. I look for unique, unusual pumpkins & gourds to use in my fall
decor. The first thing to look for is a pumpkin that has a fantastic stem; the
key to every great pumpkin is a good stem which really does make a
statement. I enjoy the simplicity of letting the pumpkin shine as the
centerpiece. Don’t be afraid to bring pumpkins into your home. I set them
here & there throughout my home, they are just not for display on the front
porch. Embrace the season & enjoy the bright color in your home this time of
year.
I am really inspired by vintage & industrial design so I like mixing pumpkin
displays with glass, metal or wood accent pieces & finding interesting ways
to display them. I really love eclectic groupings of different kinds of
pumpkins. I like placing a plain pumpkin next to a glittered one & having one
with brown wire wrapped around it for a fun mix of textures & styles. You
can also paint a pumpkin with a doilies stenciled print or stuff a smaller pie
pumpkin into a black knee high that has a great textured print for some
diversity. There are so many fun possibilities & ways to use pumpkins into
your Holiday décor without having to carve them. The best part of all these
ways of decorating with pumpkins is that you can enjoy them all autumn
season long.
