Before My Heart Stops

Paul Cardall stops by to share his thoughts about his new book.

After being told he would most certainly die without a heart transplant and my not survive surgery if he was operated on, Cardall started a blog to update his family and friends on his condition and shared his thoughts, feelings, and observations of what was expected to be the final days of his life. But his blog, “Living For Eden,” wasn’t about dying. It was about the importance of family, the need for faith, overcoming despair, and seizing every moment because “with each day death is ever closer.” The blog itself was named after his daughter Eden. As he struggled to survive, Cardall drew closer to God. In his daily blog entries he offered principles universal to those who value spiritual things, and celebrates what it means to truly love one’s family.

The blog’s readership grew quickly beyond those closest to him. Hundreds of families in similar situations, who were looking for hope amid the despair, began corresponding with Cardall. Tens of thousands of fans offered support, but it was the love of his three-year-old daughter that motivated him to endure countless painful procedures which gave him a second chance at life.

Cardall now shares his story in a new book, Before My Heart Stops
