Wings are a key part to having a perfect Superbowl party.
Marguerite Henderson shares her winning recipe.
Oven Roasted Wings in Spicy Sesame Soy Sauce
2 cups buttermilk
5 -6 pounds chicken wings and drumettes
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons sesame oil
¼ cup brown sugar
½ cup honey
¼ cup sweet chili sauce (Asian section of market)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
sesame seeds, chopped green onions
Place the buttermilk and wings in a bowl large enough to have the chicken submerged in the buttermilk. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Drain off the buttermilk and place the wings in a single layer on a double wide cake rack over a sheet of parchment or foil (to prevent messy cleanups) in a large baking sheet. Preheat oven to 400 degrees (Roast…if you have that setting) and roast the chicken for 30 minutes, turning the pan around after 15 minutes to cook evenly in the oven.
While chicken is roasting, place all ingredients for the sauce in a medium saucepan, bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes until thickened to consistency of molasses. When the chicken is cooked, place in a large bowl, toss with the sauce and serve at once. Sprinkle with additional sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired. Serves 5-6.
