Operation Smile: Changing Lives One Smile at a Time

Operation Smile: Changing Lives One Smile at a
Time

It’s a chance to change a life…with something as simple as a smile.

Wade Hooton with Operation Smile explains how you can be part of a new
campaign that will help children all over the world.

Operation Smile is an international children’s medical charity that provides
free reconstructive surgery to children born with facial deformities,
primarily cleft lip and cleft palate. Since its beginning, Operation Smile
has performed over 200,000 surgeries and provided over 2,000,000 free
medical evaluations to children in desperate need.

It’s hard to believe that in as few as 45 minutes and for as little as $240,
Operation Smile can forever change a child’s life. You can partner with
Operation Smile and be a carrier of hope to those that have none.

Patient Story:

Abdukerim
Born with a pronounced cleft lip, Abdukerim’s mother Fowz feared the
worst. Fowz loved her son, but knew she could never afford the surgery to
mend his smile.

She worried that he would be bound to a life of shame and isolation. Until
she heard the news that Operation Smile was coming to Addis Ababa,
Ethiopia, to perform free surgeries.

She took Abdukerim, who was just 11 months old, and traveled more than
370 miles from their remote village in hope of receiving surgery for him.

Abdukerim was selected for surgery. He now has a bright future and a
lifetime of smiles ahead of him and Fowz couldn’t be happier.

Operation Smile is launching a 1,000 Smiles Campaign with the goal of
raising money to change 1,000 children’s lives between now and October
23. To launch the event, Operation Smile is hosting the Breakfast for
Smiles Event on September 20, 2011.
