Style File: Pulling Off a Casual Skirt

It’s a style that is cute and comfortable – but the casual skirt can be hard to pull off!

Shannon Abbott with “Style with Shannon” shares laid-back looks for your 30s, 40s and 50s.

Have you ever wanted to wear a skirt on a hot summer day but didn’t want to look to dress up? Here are a few tips that can help your favorite skirt look relaxed and effortless.

IN YOUR 30s

One of my favorite things right now is the graphic tee. The graphic tee is perfect to dress down a cute cotton skirt. Pair it with FLAT sandals, not wedges. This will help keep the look relaxed. Try not to overdo it with the accessories. Less is more with this look.

IN YOUR 40s

One of the easiest way to dress down a look is to add some denim. I think almost everyone owns a Chambray shirt at, just add it as a layer. You can also do this with a denim vest or jacket. I love completing this look with some cute sneakers.

IN YOUR 50s

Most women in their 50’s start to prefer longer skirts. The best way to dress down a maxi skirt to to pair it with a slouchy tee. Add a baseball cap. You look cute, younger yet still age appropriate. Remember not to overdo the jewelry. A sporty watch would be perfect for this look.
