The New Moon Experience

With as many as 5,000 anticipated fans, Salt Lake City will be the epicenter for one of the largest celebrations in the country for a two-day premiere party called the New Moon Experience November 19 and 20 at the South Towne Expo and Jordon Commons.

ReelzChannel, a national digital television channel devoted to news and features about films and the film industry, has agreed to be an official media sponsor. Besides news coverage and special features, Reelz Channel’s unique 360 cam will broadcast the event to the world wide web. Reelz will also host a VIP after party after the movie at 2:30 a.m. on November 20.

Discounted tickets can be purchased at www.eventsbyalice.com through September 13 and range in price from $20 for a basic pass to the South Towne Expo, up to $28 and $44 packages that include the movie and concert. Gift bags can be added to the package for an additional $20. A portion of the profits will be donated to the charitable organization Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, committed to finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Produced by Events By Alice, a division of TwlightMOMS, and assisted by R Legacy Entertainment, the extravaganza will not only include reserved seats at a midnight movie showing on November 19 but additional showings November 20 at the Megaplex Theaters at Jordan Commons. The Expo Center will be loaded with games, shopping for Twilight-inspired merchandise at more than 70 vendor booths, special vampire designed cupcakes provided by Salt Lake retailer So Cupcake, and a concert by the number one Twilight-inspired band in the U.S., the Atlanta-based Mitch Hansen Band.

Jenny Updike, Events By Alice managing director, said the gala may become the largest single event for the opening weekend of a movie connected to the Twilight Saga anywhere in the country. “Tickets sales are coming in from coast to coast,” said Updike. “Premiere events like this are planned from Los Angeles to New York but I think our party is going to rival them all. Fans will not only see the movie, but be able to immerse themselves in a total Twilight experience. Many of the locations found in the story will be recreated inside the event hall including the Clock Tower and town square fountain in Volterra. And just before the midnight premiere of the film, fans will rock to the sounds of the Mitch Hansen Band.”

The party kicks off Thursday, November 19 at 3 p.m. when the doors open at the South Towne Expo Center. Once inside, guests will find the exhibit hall transformed into popular scenes and settings from Stephenie Meyer’s book, New Moon. They will pass through Forks, where much of the saga took place, take a picture of Bella’s truck or have a seat in Edward’s Volvo and then head for Jacob’s Garage in La Push.

Fans can stop at Alice’s salon for five minute make-over or sit in the Cullen’s living room at Bella’s birthday party. The premiere party will also include “guy friendly” activities such as playing video games in Emmet’s Lounge or watching college football games at Billy’s Place.

At Volterra, well wishers can drop coins in the fountain which will be collected for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and plenty of handcrafted treasures will be available at the TwilightMOMS boutique. The So Cupcake bakery in Salt Lake has created more than a dozen vampire-inspired cupcakes so fans can take a bite out of their favorite Twilight character.
At 8 p.m. the Mitch Hansen Band will perform on stage at the Expo Center and at midnight the movie will premiere nearby at the Megaplex Theaters at Jordan Commons.

The two-day event continues Friday, November 20 with more shopping, games and events at the Expo Center beginning at noon until 11 p.m. Fans can catch a movie showing that evening.
