The Themba Girls

School for many children around the world is a luxury. Luckily many non-profit groups work tirelessly to help provide this luxury for kids.

The Themba trust is one such group.

On September 27 at the Capitol Theater a benefit concert will be performed by musician Erin Bode and “The Themba Girls”. Money from the concert will go to the Themba trust.

The Themba trust operates two residential high schools in Dirkiesdorp, a village southeast of Johannesberg. The two schools serve a total of about 500 students. These students come from extremely poor families who would otherwise not be able to afford to send their children to school.

The “Themba Girls” are recent graduates of the girls’ residential high school in Dirkiesdorp. Erin Bode and her band visited the school as part of a mission of mercy and to raise awareness and funds for the Themba Trust. While visiting the school they heard the girls choir singing and fell instantly in love with the natural rhythmic

Sound of their voices. After meeting with the girls Bode decided to invite them to make a CD of songs with her. The Girls choir will join Bode on stage for a wonderful evening of entertainment.

The concert is Thursday Sep. 27 at Capitol Theater at 7:30. Tickets are only $20 each which includes a CD of the Choir and Erin Bode. For tickets call 355-ARTS.
