The TRUTH Anti-Tobacco Campaign

Cigarettes are flavored to mask the harshness of the product for new smokers while nicotine and other chemical levels are manipulated to make the products even more addictive.

That’s why the TRUTH is launching a tobacco prevention campaign called Maybe You Should Try Advertising, targeting young people and challenging their anti-tobacco advertising savvy.

Fourth and fifth grade students are invited to write a billboard, radio or TV ad to fight the tobacco industry which lures 28 percent of youth to try smoking by the time they reach eighth grade.
Fourth and fifth grade students may enter Maybe You Should

Try Advertising by creating an ad that tells The TRUTH about tobacco. Entries are due by March 6, 2009. Best in show will win $400 and the ad will be professionally produced. This is just one way the TRUTH is working to begin a dialogue between parents and kids about the dangers of tobacco.
