WHAT IS HAUTE & PRIM STYLE CAMP?

The Haute & Prim Style Camp was created to redefine the concept of style for young girls, to help them have fun with fashion and find a new sense of self-confidence. It is designed to offer parents and girls an alternative to modeling school and finishing school. Haute & Prim believes that all girls should be encouraged to focus on the positive while understanding that true beauty comes from within. The girls will learn how to discover and celebrate their ability to express themselves through their own personal style. The camp includes workshops in etiquette, social courtesy, modeling secrets, runway, photo movement technique, trend prediction and modesty.

WHY THE NEED?

After spending nine years in the fashion industry, Erin saw too many girls sacrificing their morals to gain popularity and “top model” status which was unfortunately unrealistic for most. She decided that instead of opening a modeling agency, she wanted to have a better influence on girls. She didn’t want to feel personally responsible for throwing girls in with the “beasts” that too often devour them without them even noticing. She also saw the need for teaching girl’s etiquette and social courtesy, because not only are they being bombarded with bad examples in the media regarding fashion, but the media is doing a great job teaching them how to be selfish as well.

Erin also thinks every girl deserves to be on a runway and have the chance to have fun with modeling. Many girls dream of it and will never get the chance because agencies won’t accept them. Haute & Prim gives them the chance to learn about all the secrets of modeling including runway and photo movement without having to compromise their values.

HOW WILL THEY GAIN WHAT THEY NEED?

Erin believes that real style first comes from within; in the way we carry and express ourselves, and how we treat other people. Second, it comes by how we dress. The old term “What you wear is what you are” couldn’t illustrate this point better. Here are a few examples of teen etiquette and teen styles that will help them learn how to gain real style.

Etiquette- The aspect of etiquette in which Erin’s focuses on is social courtesy.

1. Be agreeable: Chronic dissenters wear people out.

2. Acknowledge others: (“After you” is better than “me first”)

3. Be inclusive: One of our strongest yearnings is to be accepted by others.

4. Speak kindly: Speaking kindly is the heart of civil behavior and that by doing so, girls can improve the lives around them.

Style- (Erin will use models to illustrate points)

1. Color trends: Color has the power to make you look healthy, or unhealthy, thin or fat, tall or short. It can also make you look more interesting, more in control and more confident. Predict what colors are in for fall 2007.

2. Style trends- Learn what styles are in for fall 2007. How you can look your best on the first day of school.

3. Compliment your body type- You can change how you look simply by choosing clothes that look good for your body type. Show off your best assets and disguise the one’s you don’t like.

4. What you wear is what you are- the importance of modesty in today’s world. Talk about article in this week’s Newsweek about modesty and the book “Girls gone mild”.
