WHAT’S NEW IN GAMING?

June is a bit early to think about Christmas, unless you want to make sure the latest and greatest video games land under your family’s Christmas tree this year.

Jessica Foust, with TopTenREVIEWS, test drives the newest electronic games from big name gamers like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.

E3 stands for the Electronics Entertainment Expo. It took place in early June in Los Angeles. It’s the showcase for game developers and hardware manufactures to display their latest and greatest for the world of gaming.

It’s where companies like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo announce their new consoles. The Kinect, PlayStation Move and 3DS are examples of just some of the hardware announced at previous shows.

At E3 2011 Microsoft didn’t show off any new hardware. PlayStation announced the details of their new portable device, the Vita. Nintendo announced its next console, the WiiU. It still has all the aspects you love about the original Wii but with better graphics and a new controller.

The WiiU controller looks similar to a tablet with a touchscreen but it also has the traditional button controls like two analog Circle Pads. You can draw on it, play across the TV, share content, and make video calls.

As for the video games themselves, Disney showed off some of their new games like Cars 2 and Phineas and Ferb. MTV announced Dance Central 2. Nintendo showed off Legends of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

With so many games announced at E3, you’re sure to find something to suit your gaming fancy for the year to come.
