Oz Inspiration for the Home

We may not have any pet flying monkeys, live in the Emerald City or have a witch next door but we can still bring a little bit of Oz-spiration into our lives. Risa Baker shares some simple ways to spread the magic of Oz.

Lunch Box Love:

Let your children’s taste buds be inspired by The Yellow Brick Road with this swirly bread. Make a sandwich with ribbon bread from Bowman’s Market to give your kid a little escape to Oz at lunch time. (Bowman’s Market Bakery: 801-544-0788)

Birthday Activity:

We may not be able to travel by bubble but we can still have a lot of fun making them! Shape bubble wands using cookie cutters as part of a child’s party. Each kid can pick their shape or create their own using just their fingers.

Girlfriend Gift:

The spunky China Doll character and beautiful flowers come together to make the perfect gift for your best gal-pal. Pick up a vintage teacup at a thrift store, fine one in the back of your closet or pick up a new one at the store. Fill it with a little potted flower and leave it on your friend’s doorstep. She can care for the flower and enjoy a cup of tea or hot cocoa when the flower wilts away.

Girl’s Night In:

OPI and Urban Decay have Oz themed nail polish and makeup sets! With nail polish names like “Don’t Burst My Bubble,” “When Monkeys Fly!,” “Glints of Glinda,” and “I Theodora You” your nails will feel like they can cast spells and dance through the clouds in a bubble! Eye shadow sets are themed after Glinda’s pink and plum look and Theodora’s golden and green shades.

Family Movie Night:

Give everyone in the fam a handful of emerald green popcorn to watch the movie! A simple way to Oz- up the classic movie treat that no one can get enough of.

Graduation Gift

Glinda the good witch gives some good advice for everyone at any age. But it’s especially important to inspire the graduates in our lives as they tackle the new challenges coming their way.
